21.11.2023. The Competition Council adopted a decision to authorise SIA “CENTRÁLĀ LABORATORIJA” to acquire a decisive influence over the company providing laboratory services, SIA “NMS Laboratorija”. The CC adopted a positive decision, because no harm will be caused to competition with the transaction.
SIA “CENTRĀLĀ LABORATORIJA” and its related companies are active in both healthcare and non-healthcare sectors, such as market and public opinion research, social care for the elderly and disabled, leasing and management of immovable property, accounting, bookkeeping, auditing and audit services, tax consultancy, construction and repair, immovable property brokerage, and service activities incidental to land transportation. At the same time, SIA “CENTRĀLĀ LABORATORIJA” is active in the field of laboratory testing services. Whereas SIA “NMS Laboratorija” is engaged in the provision of laboratory testing services.
Having assessed the information provided by the companies and available to the CC, the CC concludes that the merger will not result in a significant change in the market structure, lessen competition, or create or strengthen a dominant position on the affected markets in Latvia; the merger is therefore permissible.
