From 8 – 10 July in Geneva the 14th Session of Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Competition Law and Policy will take place. The session will be led by Ms Skaidrīte Ābrama, the chairwoman of the Competition Council (CC) of Latvia.

The 14th Session will focus on the following topics: benefit of competition policy for consumers, informal cooperation among competition agencies in specific cases, communication strategies of competition authorities as a tool for agency effectiveness etc.

Furthermore, within the Session, Ms Ābrama has been chosen to be the Chair of Peer Reviews of Competition Law and Policy of Namibia and the Seychelles. The purpose of Peer Reviews is to assess the legal framework and enforcement experience in each jurisdiction and to draw lessons from past experiences with a view to improving competition law enforcement in each country.

The Session will be led by the CC of Latvia for the first time.
